How to install Voice Recorder app on Windows 10
Voice Recorder should already be available on your installation, but if you don't have it, you can install it with these steps:
- Open Microsoft Store.
- Search for Windows Voice Recorder, and click the top result.
Click the Get button.

How to use the Voice Recorder app on Windows 10
Kontrol S2 MK2: Recording the Microphone. In the default configuration the mic signal from Kontrol S2 remains in the internal soundcard of the S2. When you press the MIC ENGAGE button at the front of the controller, the mic audio is fed directly into the main output. As a result the mic input is not recorded.
Voice Recorder is a straightforward application to record audio. You only you need a microphone. The one built-in on your laptop or tablet, the one from a webcam, or any other microphone will do just fine.
The instructions below will guide you with everything you need to know to record, listen, and edit your sound recording files.
Recording audio
To record audio on Windows 10, make sure the microphone is connected (if applicable), and use these steps:
- Open Start.
- Search for Video Recorder, and click the top result to open the app.

Quick tip: You can also start recording using the Ctrl + R keyboard shortcut.
- (Optional) Click the Flag button to add a marker in the recording. (This option won't interrupt the audio recording in any way, but when editing the track, you'll be able to quickly jump to important parts of the recording.)
- (Optional) Click the Pause button to stop recording without terminating the session. (This option will keep the recording in a single file.)
Click the Stop button to terminate the voice recording session.

After you complete these steps, the audio will save automatically using a .m4a file format in the 'Sound recordings' folder inside your 'Documents' folder.
Playing audio recordings
To play previously recorded audio tracks, use these steps:

Renaming audio files
Although the app saves every voice recording file automatically, it uses generic names, which isn't convenient to keep your recordings organized.
To add a more descriptive name to your sounds, use these steps:

- Select the recording from the left pane.
- Click the Rename button in the bottom right corner.
- Type a descriptive name for the file — for example, interview_feb25_satya_nadella.

If you're looking to import the audio file into another project, you don't need to share it. You can just copy and paste the file from the 'Sound recordings' folder to your 'Documents' folder, or any other location.

I have traktor pro 2 installed and my hercules e2 controller works fine with it, all controls are fine but no sounds played through traktor play.
Under Audio setup i have the following settings:
Audio device: ASIO4ALL v2
Sample rate: 24000Hz
Latency: 512Then under the ‘Built in soundcard’ bit i have ASIO4ALL selected again. The only other choice being something called” Conexant 20561 smartaudio ( (Wassapi) (Shared mode))”
I have no idea what to do with input & output routing, but have had no luck with just guessing. could really use some help people. if you need any more info, let me know. thanks
On Audio Setup, select “ASIO4ALL” for audio device. Then, on Output Routing, select “Internal” for mixing mode, on Out Master select 1: Front Left, then 2: Front Right. Output Monitor should be 3: Back Left, then 4: Back Right.

So I’ve checked your controller the Hercules E2, and learned that it doesn’t have a built-in soundcard. And, the computer that you are connecting to is using a Digital-Out interface, which means your ordinary 3.5mm will not work with it. You will need a S/PDIF is a digital audio interconnect to RCA cable to be able to connect it to an external mixer or speakers.
Try using Conexant 20561 smartaudio ( (Wassapi) (Shared mode)) as your audio setup and use “internal” in your output routing select “anything” that is available on your drop down list and see if any sound is produced in your computer.
If it still doesn’t work, then your computer’s soundcard doesn’t support external audio routing, you may need to buy a DJ soundcard like one of these: http://www.digitaldjtips.com/2010/11/6-budget-dj-sound-cards/

3D 5.1 soundcards will work as long as you have two separate outputs. But, if you want to connect it to high-powered mixers and speakers, then I recommend buying a DJ soundcard from numark or native instruments. That way there would be no distortion if you pump up the volume.
